Weekend Concert Calendar, 9/11/08

Well, it seems that the only day I can find any choral-related activities this weekend is Saturday.

Saturday:

Scott Metcalfe, the director of the Blue Heron Renaissance Choir, is leading a performance workshop on Music of Renaissance Spain starting at 9:30 am in Concord. More information is here.

The High Kings are at the Colonial Theater in downtown Boston at 2 pm and at 8 pm; also Sunday at 3 pm. (They are an "Irish ballad group.")

At 8 pm the Lexington Symphony, along with the New World Chorale, will present Mozart's Requiem. This will be at Cary Hall in Lexington Center (1605 Mass Ave, Lexington.)

Also, The Boston Ahts Festival is this weekend, Friday through Sunday, at the Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park. There are juried visual artists, and two performance stages. Looks like fun!

And don't forget, it's not too late to join a chorus yourself - you can find some notices of open rehearsals here.

Finally, I'm going to give a shout-out to Juventas, a new music ensemble in Boston. They are opening their series this year with "Fierce: New Music of High Energy and Sonic Intensity." Concerts are Friday and Saturday at 8 pm, and Sunday at 4:30 pm - check out their website for various locations and other details.
